I have decided that for the honours project portfolio. The visual documentation and media tests will be up on the honours blog. I made a test word document using Blog Booker which seem to function appropriately. 4/18/16 Brian suggested that I included some visual documentation with the artefact to helps suggest how it was put together. So I'll be including a folder with model sheets and concept art with appropriate labels. Here are the final pages of my Comic.
Today, I managed to put together a PDF of my Comic. On Tuesday, I will visit Dundee Printing service and I will ask them a few questions about the production of a comic issue.
Are there any templates available for magazine size comics?
What are the prices for this particular size, specifically in colour?
How long would it take to produce a single issue consisting of 28 pages?
Do the back, front and insider covers require their own PDF?
How should the Indesign document be laid out in order to feature the front, back and inside covers?
I followed a few links and tutorial about how to assemble a .PDF using Adobe Indesign.
In addition, I created a rough prototype of how the comic should look like. I was successful in creating a PDF However page 5's top half was rendered fine but the lower half was not there. I am still looking into how this technical issue can be resolved.
In several comics I've looked at ,they include an additional page with credits at the beginning. So I chose to apply a similar approach with my comic. I wanted to continue with the use of teh textured visual style, which has been applied for the flash back sequences.
This is one of the earliest attempts of this was the image below.
Attempt 1
Attempt 2
I liked the strong silhouettes in the second attempt. However It appears to be too flat. After looking at This 2.5 dimensional panning from this showcase.

Current Attempt
This latest attempt shows a greater improvement in the depth through the use of atmospheric perspective. Its needing a few more tweeks but it it still looks better than before. I managed to put together a double page spread to use for the inside pages for the comic.
I did have an idea for a short animation for my Advanced Animation Module. However in the end, I decided to scrap the idea and focus on a games related project.
Story
The initial idea for the story was a young fawn that is nothing but a dark silhouette. He is lonely and wants some company. He hears a sound like a flute mimicking a cuckoo bird. He follows the sounds making the same notes as a form of communication. However when he arrives after this journey he finds out that it was just a bird. He leaves and returners to his home disappointed. He remains there sad and depressed until he sees that the bird followed him. The bird cries out and other animals emerge. The bird begins to sing and the faun starts to play joyfully on his flute. What I had in mind was the idea of sketchy visual style. The idea was to keep this about 3 pages at least.
Here is a link to my Rough Animatic.
I was thinking about using this as a starting point. However I went and did some development work for how the character would look.
I looked at various ways the character could appear. The original design was for the character to be a black silhouette. The reason for this was to allow the figure to be drawn more efficiently. However I did not continue with this development.
