Use of Lines

In Scott McCloud's Understanding Comics:An Invisible Art (1994), he tells us that lines can help suggest mood and character emotions through the background. Even the way lines are used can tell us of a character's personality and mood. I believe if I go for the HP Lovecraft story I can implement the psychology themes through the use of line work. Since the story is about a morphine addict's story, I could use the idea of unstable lines to reflect his mindset and use backgrounds to reflect his inner emotions. it would allow the reader to see more about his character.
The use of panels and gutters can help emphasis the length and passage of time. The size of panels and the gutter-less ones could help establish a timeless feel and a sense of place.
